Wednesday July 5, 8 PM, Opening Night will feature both Companies
followed by
BATTLEWORKS, Thursday & Saturday, July 6 & 8 at 8 PM; Sunday July 9 at 2 PM
PARADIGM, Friday July 7 at 8 PM; Saturday July 8 at 2 PM; Sunday July 9 at 7:30 PM

PARADIGM (Gus Solomons jr, Dudley Williams, Carmen deLavallade, Keith Sabado, Valda Setterfield, Michael Blake and Hope Clarke) and Robert Battle's Battleworks will share the July 5-9 week at the Joyce. Both companies will appear opening night, July 5, followed by three performances of PARADIGM, with a guest appearance by Battleworks, and three performances of Battleworks, with a guest appearance by PARADIGM.

PARADIGM will present a program of works by Carmen deLavallade, Gus Solomons jr,
Wally Cardona, Larry Keigwin and Kay Cummings, including three World Premieres and one New York Premiere.
Receiving their world premieres are
Nowaday with choreography and soundscore by Wally Cardona, created with and performed by Gus Solomons jr. Official description: "A calculated interplay between the moving body and the stage lighting." Gus's description: "It's a terror and a challenge!"
Finger Suite, choreography by Larry Keigwin to Erik Satie's Gymnopedies. A playful trio for Blake, Sabado and Setterfield in the choreographer's decidely offbeat style
Sam's Party, created for the full company by Carmen deLavallade to music by Wynton Marsalis, Jane Ira Bloom, Billy Strayhorn, and Prince. An irreverent meditation inspired by Beckett
Texture (NY Premiere), a trio by Kay Cummings to an original vocal score composed and performed live by Judith Ren-Lay
Royal Court Museum (preview) A company work with choreography by Solomons to an original score performed live by composer Chris Lancaster (electric cello)
Guest company Battleworks will perform Robert Battle's Strange Humors, a tour-de-force duet for George Smallwood and Samuel L. Roberts.
Friday July 7 at 8 PM; Saturday July 8 at 2 PM; Sunday July 9 at 7:30 PM

BATTLEWORKS will present five dances by Robert Battle, including
Primate, a World Premiere to music by Philip Hamilton, and
Communion, New York Premiere of a company work, featuring Tyler Gilstrap. Communion was commissioned in 2005 by the American Dance Festival
Takademe, a stunning woman's solo to East Indian-inspired music by Sheila Chandra
Two, a hilarious duet with Battle costumed in a frumpy housedress. Music by Donna Summer and Vivaldi
Promenade, for the full company: Gilstrap, Shanti Guirao, Jennifer Mabus, Erika Pujic, Terrence A. Poplar, Samuel L. Roberts, Kate Sharpetowska, George Smallwood.
Guest company PARADIGM will perform A Thin Frost, an ingenius trio performed to vocal sounds by the dancers.
