CALL FOR BAXten AWARDS NOMINATIONS

Nominate artists, teaching artists and administrators
who have changed our creative world.

Dear Friend,
Please take a moment to nominate an artist, teaching artist or arts administrator
who has transformed our creative world for a 2006 BAXten Award. We are accepting
nominations until July 7 and you should visit http://www.bax.org/events.html to
download a nomination form and email all nominations to baxten@bax.org. The sixth
annual BAXten Arts and Artists in Progress Awards will take place on Thursday
November 2 at the Prospect Park Picnic House so please mark your calendar!

Sixth Annual
BAXten arts and artists in progress awards

Please help! Let’s celebrate the work of real people in our field whose work
deserves our recognition!

As members of our field, we are inviting you to nominate artists, teaching artists
and arts managers/administrators working in New York City whose work in dance,
theater, performance and related areas have revealed and transformed our creative
world. By instigating and enduring change they have deepened the definition of their
field and paved the way for others.

Examples of a nominee might be an artist who has redefined his/her field, created
something so different that an audience (or other artists) will look at that way of
performing or creating differently in times to come and has paved the way for
others. OR an arts manager, through his/her vision has created a series, or a way of
working, or provided opportunities that have significantly changed the way artists
work and paved the way for others. OR a teaching artist who has mentored others, or
created a unique Arts In Education program that has re-defined the field and made it
possible for other teaching artists to “do it differently”. Nominees might also
include leaders in these fields.

The awards will be held on Thursday November 2, 2006 at the Prospect Park Picnic
House. Nominations are being sought until July 7.
