BAX Artist in Residence Fernando Maneca/MANOISECA premieres Drinking the Kool-Aid, a
multi-media solo theater piece set in a world where mass marketing, religion and
politics intersect. Drinking the Kool-Aid stars a character named Fred who loves his
job, his family and his country. Fred is a marketing professional and a rising star
at the Red Kool-Aid Corporation, but in the midst of a product launch, a mysterious
force intervenes.

"The Kool-Aid sequences, featuring cool multimedia and deathless performance art,
satirize American consumer culture and other aspects of our current Body Politic
with scary accuracy. Maneca has a lot on his mind, and he's not at all subtle in
conveying it."
