Newport's Island Moving Co. returns to Fort Adams for a fifth
season of Flight of Steps, the Company's outdoor performance series. Flight
of Steps runs from July 14 to July 23, except Monday and Tuesday, with
performances beginning at 6:30 each evening. On July 14, 15 & 16th, Island
Moving Co. dancers share the stage with guest dance companies Andary Dance,
Table 62 and Tami Stronach Dance, on a program with a premiere by Colleen
Cavanaugh. For the second week, Island Moving Co. premieres a new duet
choreographed by Tami Stronach and a new work by IMC Artistic Director Miki
Ohlsen. Tickets to Flight of Steps are $15; $10 for children and seniors
and are available at the door and through Art Tix at
<> .

Colleen Cavanaugh is premiering her fifth work on the dancers of
the Island Moving Co. A practicing ob/gyn, Cavanaugh is a former dancer who
performed in New York and Europe for Libby Nye, Daniel McCusker, Marcus
Schulkind and Mercury Ballet. She directed Cadence Dance Project for several
years and received the 1998 RISCA Choreographers Fellowship. Recently, she
has created dances for RI College Dance Company and Festival Ballet's Up
Close on Hope. Her new work for IMC is set on six dancers, to music by
Gyorgy Ligeti.

Tami Stronach was born to an Israeli mother and a Scottish
father in Tehran, Iran. She studied at the Martha Graham Studios and at
SUNY Purchase. She performed with Monica Bill Barnes, Neta Pulvermacher and
Kate Weare. With her own company, her work has been seen at the St. Mark's
Danspace Project, the Joyce SoHo, PS122 and Dance Theater Workshop in New
York and on tour around the states and in Australia and England. Stronach
will bring her company to perform at Flight of Steps July 14-16 and will
choreograph a new duet on Company members Eva Marie Pacheco and Michael
Bolger to premiere on July 19th, with performances through the weekend.

Andary Dance is a dance collective headed by choreographer
Nathan Andary. The Company has performed in Chicago, Boston and New York as
well as its home base in Providence, RI and participated in Island Moving
Co.'s emerging choreographers' festival Two Steps Forward in 2003 and 2005's
Open for Dancing (Interlude). Table 62 , which will participate in the July
14-16 performances, is a group of dancers recently graduated from Roger
Williams University in Bristol, RI.

The July 20th performance of Flight of Steps will be a benefit
for Providence Ballet, whose studio was destroyed in a fire this spring.
Benefit tickets for the Thursday night performance will be $25; $15 for
children and seniors. Those choosing to donate are invited to join Island
Moving Co. Board members for refreshments during intermission and after the
show with Eva Marie Pacheco and Michael Bolger.

Dancers performing in the Island Moving Co. for the summer
season include Company members Meredith Baer, Janelle Gilchrist, Lilia
Ortola, Eva Marie Pacheco, Michael Bolger, Ira Hardy and David Lawrence and
guests Danielle Genest, returning to the Company from New York, and Sean
Gunter and David Murphy from Boston. For information about Flight of Steps
and Island Moving Co.'s programs, visit
