My husband and I recently started private lessons and found them to be
very expensive. We are hoping to learn several types of dance, including
waltz, salsa, tango, rumba, swing, etc. We are trying to decide if the higher
cost of private lessons is worth it, or could we get the same results from the
less expensive group lessons?

What is the best type of dance lesson for learning

social dance...private or group?

Hi Marcy,

I have been told by friends who have done social dance forms, that a few private classes are good to get the basics and then you can move to group classes more easily.

Hope that helps.

I took ballroom dancing at the local junior college when I lived in San Francisco. There were quite a few people who didn't have a lot of dancing experience, but they seemed to do just fine and really enjoyed themselves. The class filled up quickly at registration time and was packed! Very popular then and now! And, it is much less expensive at a community college than a private school...Good luck!

I think that private lessons are better than group one, cause techer could pay more attention to you, yes they ae expensive but as for me it worth it
