Last night I was watching my favourite telly programme, Top Gear, when an off hand remark from Jeremy Clarkson to fellow presenter James (Captain Slow) May, intrigued me so much that it’s been on my mind ever since.

Clarkson stated that you should never give a woman any sort of gift that has a plug attached, to which May replied that he had given his girlfriend an electric drill. Clarkson and Richard Hammond reacted with dismay to this with Clarkson saying ‘but your girlfriend is a ballet correspondent!’

So James May has a girlfriend who is a ballet critic, but who is she??? Loveable blunderer May is certainly fond of classical music, but ballet? Eliminating the harpies, barking mad and clinically obese, here in the UK there are probably only two critics young enough and personable enough to attract a successful TV presenter (though one is crap at her job) and I’m dying to know who it is.

I appreciate asking this question pushes the boundaries of what is acceptable on this forum, even in ‘fun stuff’, but a private message or email would put me out of my misery.

Many thanks.

P.S. Top Gear is usually repeated on Fridays in the UK so British ballet fans can check out James May for themselves if not already familiar with the gentleman.
