I think we are going to see more and more articles like this as the newspaper industry tries to postpone their ineveitable death.

Alan Rich, a well-regarded classical music critic in the LA Weekly, has also just been canned. LAW is owned by the same people who own the Village Voice.

He's launching his own website, so he's seeing this as an opportunity rather than a misfortune.

I read the LA Times's review of La La La Human Steps, written by their otherwise swell classical music critic Mark Swed, and the guy was obviously out of his depth and groping around in the dark. So sad for dance these days.
