Here's a story from the LA Times about the Hollywood Bowl Series that encourages kids to experience the performing arts, including dance, from faraway places:
http://www.calendarlive.com/family/20000713/t000066008.html

I brought this article about arts programs for children at the Hollywood Bowl back up because I was wondering about other programs around the country that awaken a fire in children for dance and the performing arts. I know they exist, and I would be interested to know what they "look like," where they are located. What dance forms are used, and in what creative way. Is the program attached to another event?
Rebekah, I think you might have some input on this.
With the interest in "world music" enjoying popularity, it would make sense that dance, in its many forms, would jump on the bandwagon.
[This message has been edited by Maggie (edited July 19, 2000).]
