Los Angeles Times article on the problems of dance in the Los Angeles area:
AT DANCE CENTER, CHANGE OF TENANTS STEPS ON SOME TOES

quote:
When the Conjunctive Points Dance Center opened in a former aerospace factory in Culver City four years ago, owners Frederick and Laurie Samitaur Smith had a vision: to bolster L.A.'s struggling dance community by providing a home and affordable studio space for a wide range of companies and teachers.
Stanley Holden, former principal dancer of the Royal Ballet and a highly respected West Coast ballet instructor, signed on as one of the first tenants. The Jazz Tap Ensemble, the American Repertory Dance Company and a dozen other teachers or troupes followed suit.

MORE
Elsewhere I started a topic about critics and the concept of change and change management. If you want an example of how not to do the latter, even if it may all be for the best in the long run, here it is!
A legacy of ill will like this is not the best way to start a school. I have to say that Debbie Allen's, 'But giving birth, bringing new energy into the world, always involves pain.' is not the most helpful comment. And Mr Smith's, '...though some key players learned the news before the Smiths could call them personally, an attempt was made to contact them.' is about as feeble as it gets.
I hope the existing teachers including Patricia Neary!!! get a good studios soon.
