If THAT was aimed at ME then I feel grossly insulted and underestimated.
Of course, I'm not 14 anymore Image
To view it a as piece of fluff is the only way I could stomach such a trite piece of film. I felt it trivialised some very important issues, though at least it managed to address them.... Maybe I should be satisfied with that? The part that made me smile was when a pair of blistered feet were shoved into a pair of pointe shoes, because it made my boyfriend visibly wince. The part that made me cringe was the dreadfully cliched ending - that motorcycle ballet... please, don't get me started!
I suppose the movie wasn't a complete write off, I didn't expect more than typical hollywood schlock. I disagree more in principle, in a less vehement way to Michael's wholly justified argument.
If this sounds like a contradicton, it probably is - I have one more day of exams and then perhaps I will make more sense *toddles off to study the finer points of innate aesthetic sensibilities*

Dirac, interesting way to look at it. I'll see if I can try that technique next time one of my friends rent a teenage flick...
I classify this movie (oh, oh, here comes Azlan's classifications again) as a "tourist" movie, in the sense that there were "monuments" in it I could point to people. I had fun pointing the different things to my significant other. That's inside SAB. That's Steps. Right across from it is the Beacon. That's so and so.
