Post subject:  introduction

I've posted a couple of times to the Students Questions and experiences forum, and thought it would be good netiqette to introduce myself. My real name is Alyson and I live in NYC. I've been dancing since I was 8 yrs old (27 now--yikes!) I just began taking classes again after several years off for grad school (MFA in Photography). My thesis project was a series of three video comedies where I acted out various characatures of ballet archetypes. Un Cygnet Adieu (stuffing feathers in my mouth), Clara and Drosselmeyer (loads of fun with the false mustache), and Suitors (bratty princess type)I was a competent ballet student--grew up in New Hampshire and attended various local ballet schools (nothing big), passed my RAD Elementary (many many years ago), and danced in a now-defunked small company doing corps and solo roles. Went to UNH and danced solo roles with the dance company which was loads of fun. My last performance ever was my senior year and I played Lampwick in a production of Pinocchio (the kid who smokes cigars and turns into a donkey). That's when I learned that I can ACT! I'm in NYC studying with Emilietta Ettlin (ballet) and Skip Costa (Modern). My New Years resolution was to take class for a year and see where I'm at. I'd LOVE to perform again in some capacity. Or, hey, put that MFA to use and design something for dance. I work at a major museum right now, designing science-related educational interactives and HD video presentations.
