I vote for A because it is deep in content.

I'm delighted that we are getting so many responses for the photo contest - 16 votes so far.
In order to give us time to seek permissions etc., I'm setting a dead-line for the voting of 9pm PST (the time of this board) Sunday, 18th March.
By the way, I am living up to my reputation as a key opinion shaper - I'm the only one so far to vote for B!
Well, well, there is a picture of Ninette de Valois DANCING on page 14 of the March 19th issue of U.S. News and World Report. And a lovely one it is too.

Basheva, those more technically gifted than me will advise us on scanning a newspaper or magazine image.
I have found this image, but I'm not certain whether it's de Valois. Does anyone know?
Image
I propose that we continue with the vote, which is the most successful we have ever had, but then see whether we have a concensus for a 1 month period with a suitable de Valois image, before we revert to the winning image from the current vote.

[This message has been edited by Stuart Sweeney (edited March 18, 2001).]

Hey, why not Darcey Bussell? Ok, that's a classical ballet one again, but I have a beautiful picture of her. Basheva, can i mail it to you? Cause I don't know how to put it in here.
Otherwise, I like A very much. It's very... well... strong, yes, that's the word, and misterious at the same time. Yes, i really like that one Image

It would be great to have Darcey Bussell as an option, Anastasia. Mail it to someone or tell us where it is in a month or so when we invite new photos for the front page.
The three images here are a distillation from a series of submissions. After this image we will be looking out for a really good ballet photo to add to our next reader poll. We need to get approaval from the Company, but you can leave that to us.
[This message has been edited by Stuart Sweeney (edited March 18, 2001).]

Anastasia - you can e-mail me the picture - of course.
I found the article about de Valois - but there is no picture that I can find online - however, it is in my issue of the magazine.
[This message has been edited by Basheva (edited March 18, 2001).]

Ok but I'll have to scan it first. You'll see when it appears here! Image

Giraffe---welcome to CD--I see you are from Michigan!! I lived and danced there for a couple of years, on and off. I liked it, but the weather was toooo cold!! Too much snow! BUT, I loved the Ann Arbor area, and the Detroit Art Institute was neat!! They had a great film series, which was my cultural salvation during one long, cold winter. And my in-laws have a lovely house up in Mackinaw. Do let us know more about you!!

Lord knows I am not an expert on British dance history, but doesn't that photo look too "risque" for Dame Ninette? Any photos I've seen of her, she looked very prim and very much the "ballet mistress". But...what do I know????! HMMM!

Welcome Giraffe! You are clearly a person of refined taste and deep understanding - you've voted for the same one as me.
Hope you enjoy the site.
