On Monday June 2, I successfully defended my PhD thesis in Computer Science at Harvard University. The title is "Web Applications with Client-Side Storage".

I will soon be starting a post-doctoral research position in the field of Medical Informatics --- anything having to do with technology and medicine. I will also begin to publish the ideas from the thesis --- some of them can be applied to medicine as well. And of course I will keep dancing for Jose Mateo's Ballet Theatre.

Meanwhile, I celebrated the event with my family in the Berkshires.

That is great news Dr Bob! In the UK I suspect that the combination of achieving this qualification and dancing professionally at the same time would be a unique.

Good luck with the research and with JMBT.

Okay, how many people are there who both dance for a professional ballet company and hold a doctorate?

Knowing the intense dedication it takes to secure a doctorate (I was in a PhD program at Stanford but bailed out to get a paying job when funding dried up) and understanding from others the more intense dedication required to dance for a professional company, I am in complete awe.

Citibob, are you one of a kind? Maybe even the first?
