Just thought I'd introduce myself as I'm new here.
I'm an ex-teacher of ballet, for various family-related reasons, and enjoy visiting boards like this so I don't feel totally 'out of it' dance-wise.
Not that it's important: I'm English, and have lived in Italy for the past 20 years.

Hello, Red Shoes, and welcome. I have heard many nice things about Lazio. Can you tell us of the dance scene there?

Yes, Red Shoes. WLECOME!! Do tell us about life in Italy. I have been wanting to visit Italy for a while. My husband and I can't agree where and when to go...so we're at a stalemate, so to speak!!
I take it that your a big "Red Shoes" fan? If so,....I have a trivia question: what was the character's name in the movie: the mean artistic director guy who "discovers" Vicki (I think that's the main ballerina's name)and makes her a star. I was trying to recall it the other day; it is a Russian sounding name, I think???!

Good Heavens, that was a pretty quick reply/welcome! How very nice.
So what have you heard about Lazio (apart from the fact that it's the region where you'll find Rome!)?
Here's a bit of dance news: The ballet of the Teatro dell'Opera of Rome, directed by Carla Fracci, is going to be putting on a 'Nijinsky Ritrovato' (rediscovered) programme from March 30th.
Le Sacre du Printemps
Til (or Tyl) Eulenspiegel
Jeux
I read that Fracci will also be dancing (still!) as will Deborah Bull and Adam Cooper.

Welcome to our board, Red Shoes - glad to have you join us.
I believe the name of the man, the artistic director from the Red Shoes was "Lermantov" - wasn't it?
Carla Fracci is one of my favorite ballerinas - I have some tapes of her and saw a documentary of her and Giselle and I just fell in love with her.
The Teatro a la Scala Ballet is coming here to San Diego and I have tickets and am very much looking forward to seeing that company.
Correction - sorry - the company is coming to Costa Mesa - about 100 miles north of San Diego and I am traveling there to see them.
[This message has been edited by Basheva (edited March 29, 2001).]
