Mystery Suspended

'LandFall' Falls Down

A clump of bodies dressed in white lie haphazardly entwined in the downstage right corner. As the lights come up, one dancer begins to move so slowly it takes the eye several moments to notice that the shape is shifting. As the first dancer, supported by a second, unfurls into a seamless contact improvisational duet, images flicker on a large screen at the back--treetops swaying lightly, fire smoldering.

ZviDance -- 'Gertrud' and 'Les Noces'

Zvi Gotheiner’s company ZviDance presented a lively, thought-provoking performance as part of the thirteenth 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Festival. The company members projected a strong feeling of community with one other while at the same time maintaining uniqueness as individuals. The performance was presented with the two dances back to back and no intermission.
