Pedagogue's View: An Interview with Gloria Govrin
by Dean Speer & Francis Timlin
I love ballet and I try to have
the students here share in that joy. You have to be very focused and,
in a very real sense, leave everything else behind. It means that you
have to keep 'climbing the mountain.'

Ballet - 'Manon': Bolshoi Meets Kirov'
by Catherine Pawlick
May 1, 2005 -- Mariinsky Theatre, St.

Although on the one
hand an unlikely pair, in many ways Pavlenko alongside Tsiskaridze
seemed quite well matched. Multiple curtain calls attested
to their polished, well-rehearsed and well-acted performances.

April 22, 2005 -- Mariinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg

Letter from the Editors
This month's issue pays tribute to tradition, with a company focus
on the Royal Danish Ballet in celebration of the Bournonville Festival
and several reviews of the Kirov Ballet performances from around Europe.
But we also put contemporary works in perspective, including a
discussion with Val Caniparoli and Evelyn Cisneros
on Caniparoli's tenth-year anniversary about his wildly popular "Lambarena"
and several articles on the Chicken Shed Theatre Company.
As always, we love to hear what you think. Please post your comments
in our Magazine Feedback Discussion
Topic in the CriticalDance forum. And, if you want the magazine
